Background

In 1991, a dynamic group decided to redefine the objectives and activities of the Association des dépressifs et des maniaco-dépressifs. The following programs were implemented: a listening, information and referral hot line and training for hot line volunteers; information sessions; and the Question d’humeur newsletter (now called L’envolée).

In 1994, three pilot support groups were set up, followed by the first group for loved ones and spouses in 1995. In 1998, the youth program began, welcoming young people between the ages of 14 and 25 suffering from depression or manic depression. A workplace program was also implemented for employees and managers.

In 2001, the association was renamed Revivre – Quebec Anxiety, Depressive and Bipolar Disorder Support Association, and anxiety-disorder services and programs were incorporated into the association’s existing activities related to depression and manic depression.

Many people suffering from anxiety, depression or bipolar disorders, as well as loved ones, spouses and health professionals, benefit from Revivre’s services, which rely on the combined efforts of more than 100 volunteers to carry out the association’s mission.
